Established in 2013, Haque Centre of Acting and Creativity (HCAC) is a professional acting studio in Singapore. Run by founder and Artistic Director Kamil Haque, HCAC has over 10,000 acting alumni, ranging from creative double-lifers to professional actors. Many who have benefitted from their training at HCAC have gone on to appear in Hollywood films, stage productions, television shows, and commercials around the world. HCAC also provides corporate training and private coaching.

Introducing the latest cohort of the Lee Strasberg Method Acting Weekend Intensive. We could not be prouder of the work they put in. Over the course of the weekend, they immersed themselves in the craft of presence.

They explored how the body remembers, how breath unlocks truth, how imagination sharpens focus, and how a single moment of stillness can shift an entire room.

The work was raw, specific, and practical. Yes, it is the foundation of acting, but it is also a training ground for how we show up in life. Strasberg’s method demands we listen more closely, respond more truthfully, and commit more fully. These are not just stage skills. They are tools for leading teams, pitching ideas, navigating conflict, and building trust. They are as relevant in the boardroom as they are on the stage, as useful in a conversation with colleagues as in a monologue before an audience.

This group brought courage and curiosity. They stepped into vulnerability, wrestled with silence, found humor in unexpected places, and discovered that every moment is a performance. A performance that demands awareness, empathy, and intention.

Congratulations to this group. You leave with more than technique. You carry with you a heightened sense of presence that will resonate in your creative work, your professional endeavors, and your personal connections.

12 YEARS OF HCAC

Exactly 12 years ago, HCAC began entirely self-funded with no business plan. Just a then-30-year-old who believed that acting and performance training must be open to anyone willing to show up and do the work.

I rented a room, sat with a handful of strangers, and dared to believe there could be space for everyone for honest, vulnerable, human storytelling.

From there, HCAC grew. From a room to a small shophouse with one theatre, then a bigger one with two. Today, we’ve evolved into a flexible model that works across multiple spaces.

We’ve trained brilliant professional actors doing extraordinary things worldwide. But we’ve also worked with people from all walks of life. Many are Creative Double-Lifers who arrive unsure and leave more fully themselves. That mix has always been our magic.

From this community of 10,000+ came a web of creativity. Our alumni theatre company, @thehaquecollective, which staged 3 original full-length plays. Our sister company, @methodproductions_sg, which has produced 100+ original and adapted works across mediums and countries. And notably, through our corporate training arm, @themomentbefore.space, we’ve coached and trained leaders and teams from more than 50 of the world’s biggest brands.

The memories that stay with me the most are the circle-ups. The potlucks. The rehearsals. The lightbulb moments. Quiet moments when someone stops in for a brief respite, a quiet chat, a safe space or a hug.

To every student who trusts us with their time, stories, and bravery — thank you.
To every teacher who holds space with honesty and care — thank you.
To the staff, interns, and volunteers who keep HCAC alive through every version of it — thank you.
To the families, friends, and supporters who continue to believe — thank you.

HCAC has always been more than a space. It’s the people and the work that bring it to life.

An Extraordinary Weekend of Growth, Courage, and Creativity

Last weekend, we had the privilege of spending 2.5 powerful days with 8 remarkable individuals — working actors, creative double-lifers, and curious souls — each coming with different backgrounds, experiences, and dreams, but all united by one thing: a willingness to step into the unknown.

Together, they explored Lee Strasberg’s Method — going beyond the headlines and misconceptions to discover the real tools that open up emotional truth, creative freedom, and deeper connection.
Through exercises in relaxation, sense memory, emotional memory, personalization, and more, they learned to let go of tension, sharpen focus, and create from a place of honesty and presence.

We are deeply grateful for their openness, trust, and bravery.
