3 Fun Speech And Drama Games To Play With Your Child

Being stuck at home can be frustrating, with work from home and home-based learning being the new norm, here are 3 games you can play with your children to relieve your stress and reduce your screen time.

  1. One-word story

Sit in a circle with your child(ren). Start off the game by saying a single word to begin the story. The person on your left continues by saying another word. The next person says another word, continuing around the circle.

Watch how creative your kids can get in this game!

2. Tongue Twisters

Tongue twisters are a great way for your kids to improve their pronunciation and fluency. Here are some tongue twisters you can try with your kids:

She sells seashells by the seashore

Susie works in a shoeshine shop. Where she shines she sits, and where she sits she shines

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn’t fuzzy, was he?

Betty Botter bought some butter

But she said the butter’s bitter

If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter butter

But a bit of better butter will make my batter bitter

So ‘twas better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter

3. Character Charades

Compile a list of your children’s favourite cartoon characters on flashcards. They will pick a flashcard from the stack and act out that character. As you have written the list you should be able to guess the characters as well. Alternatively, you could pick a theme like movies and act out the movie title.

Try out these games and create new memories with your children through speech and drama!
