Shrey Bhargava

Shrey is a professional Actor, Host and Filmmaker. He has a BA in Theatre and a BA in Cinema & Media Studies from the University of Southern California (USC), where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named a Renaissance Scholar. He was also awarded the Ruth & Albert McKinlay Award for Best Actor. 

During his time at USC, Shrey trained under many prominent practitioners in Hollywood. For Acting on Camera, this included Kate Burton (Grey’s Anatomy; Scandal), daughter of the Richard Burton (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and Joseph Hacker (S.W.A.T; Charlie’s Angels), whose acting pedagogy comes from the having studied with Stella Adler, Peggy Feury, and Lee Strasberg. John DeMita, voice actor on the hit anime series Naruto, trained Shrey in Voice Acting for Animation. Shrey was also trained in the Stanislavski’s system, Maria Knebel’s Active Analysis, and Acting Theory by internationally acclaimed Stanislavski researcher and educator Dr. Sharon Carnicke.

Shrey’s actor training in Singapore includes Buds Youth Theatre, Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Young Company and Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity. He hosted numerous high-profile live and TV events including the SG50 NDP Concert at the Marina Bay Floating Platform, the National Day Reception at the Istana for then president Dr. Tony Tan and the 28th Southeast Asian Games. At 19, Shrey was one of the youngest contestants on The 5 Search. Out of 700 hopefuls, Shrey placed 2nd overall. 

Shrey has produced, written, and directed over 7 short films. His film, My Home, Singapore? clinched over 10 official selections in film festivals worldwide. It was featured at the renowned Asian World Film Festival in 2017 and was named a semi-finalist at the Best of India Short Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2018. At the latter, it secured a broadcasting deal with Shorts TV for the South Asian region.

Shrey has acted in films such as Lizard on The Wall (2017) by Cannes-acclaimed director K. Rajagopal, and TV shows such as Fine Tune (2016), which was nominated for Best Comedy Program at the 22nd Asian TV Awards. Shrey has also starred in various web series, such as My Lockdown Wedding (2021) – that also appeared as a telemovie on Channel 5 – and Long Story Short (2020), that has over 10,000 views on NSFTV’s Instagram channel. Shrey will also be starring in upcoming Channel 5 period drama, This Land is Mine (2021). 

Shrey has prior experience as a trainer and facilitator for several theatre-led corporate training workshops organized by the Haque Centre for Acting & Creativity and Dramatic Difference. His clients have included banks such as OCBC and DBS, companies such as Bloomberg as well as brands such as Auchentoshan.

Shrey was also the Ambassador for the inaugural Singapore Monologue Slam as well as SRT’s Youth Initiative with Bloomberg Philanthropies.
