Join us in this beginner-friendly 3hr clowning workshop, This workshop is open to anyone curious about discovering their inner clown. In this play-based workshop, you'll tap into your sense of fun, embrace failure as a gift, and find joy in risk-taking on stage all through fun and games.
Expect to laugh, move, and uncover your unique comedic voice.
This workshop will be a highly physical one, so come dressed in comfortable clothes and be prepared to play.
Anyone and everyone aged 16 and up! You don't have to be funny to sign up!

Do I need a red nose?
No. We will be learning the basics which require us to do a lot of work around playfulness and ourselves.
Do I have to be funny?
No-the workshop helps us all discover our clowns. Clowns come in various shapes and sizes, talents, and abilities. Sometimes we laugh at clowns who cry or clowns who are too serious, being funny is not at all required.
I have never done clowning before, I am scared!
It is very normal to feel scared when you have to put yourself out there, make people laugh, or try something new! The workshop is structured around the philosophy of ‘Le Jeu’ which means to play. We will be doing game-based exercises and from there we might accidentally discover your clown! You will be well supported by the facilitator and other friends who just want to have fun and clown around!
Will it be awkward if I come alone?
Absolutely not! In fact, HCAC is a great place to meet like-minded friends and creatives.
Do I have to bring anything to the classes?
As our activities and games involve movement, we’d advise wearing athletic gear.

Shanice is a multiple award-winning clown and actor. Her comedy-clown show ‘Mail Ordered’ is the winner of 3 Canadian Awards; the Pick of the Fringe award (Vancouver), Patron’s Pick Award (Toronto), and the Jester’s Cap Emerging Artist Award (Calgary), and was nominated for the ‘Artistic Risk’ award at the Vancouver Fringe Festival. She was also a featured artist in the award-winning production ‘Dance to Death’ for El Festival Del Grec in Barcelona. She has worked internationally with Flamenco Dance maestro Antonio Vargas, UK Director David Glass, Spanish director Alberto Velasco, and award-winning Broadway jazz choreographer Sue SamuelsShe has trained with Philippe Gaulier and the contemporary clown theatre company, Spymonkey(UK).
In addition to her acting career, Shanice is a creative entrepreneur and the founder of Creatives Inspirit, a Singapore-based creative arts company. She has taught clown, play-based dance workshops with Clown Gym (NYC), International Schools Theatre Association (UK), Singapore Repertory Theatre, and Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity.
