Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting Weekend Intensive
- 3 Jul - 5 Jul, 2026
Not everyone gets the chance to create their own show. This is yours.
Create Your Solo Show is a performance-driven workshop for individuals ready to take ownership of their own material and bring it to life on stage.
This is not an introductory class. It is a focused, result-oriented workshop-production where participants are guided step by step through the process of devising, writing, rehearsing, and performing an original solo piece.
Across the sessions, you will develop your ideas into a clear and compelling performance, refine your storytelling, and strengthen your stage presence. Through structured direction and feedback, your work will be shaped with intention, clarity, and craft.
All scripts created will be guided, shaped, polished, and directed by the co-facilitators, ensuring each piece is developed to a strong performative standard.
The workshop culminates in a fully staged live production, where participants present their solo performances to an audience.
Whether you are returning to the stage, looking to create original work, or seeking to build your performance portfolio, this is an opportunity to develop your own show and see it through to performance.
Pre-requisite:
All participants must be 17 years of age and above.
Participants need to have completed at least one workshop at HCAC, or have prior acting experience or training elsewhere. This may include an ongoing or completed diploma or degree in acting, directing, or related disciplines. This ensures you are prepared to engage with the rigorous and performance-focused nature of this result-oriented programme.
This workshop is designed for individuals who are ready to commit to the process of creating and performing original work.
If you have always wanted to devise your own theatre piece and see it realised on stage but have not had the opportunity, this workshop offers a clear and structured pathway. If it has been some time since you last performed, or if you enjoy being on stage but rarely have the chance, this is an opportunity to return, develop, and perform with purpose.
All scripts developed during the workshop will be guided, shaped, polished, and directed by the co-facilitators.

Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for participants with prior acting, directing, theatre, or performance training who are ready to create and perform an original solo piece for a live audience.
Is this suitable for complete beginners?
No. This is not an introductory workshop. Participants should have completed at least one HCAC workshop or have prior acting, directing, theatre, or performance experience elsewhere.
What will I create in this workshop?
You will devise, write, rehearse, and perform an original solo performance developed from your own ideas.
Do I need to come in with a finished idea or script?
No. You do not need a completed script before the workshop begins. You will be guided through the process of generating, developing, and shaping your material.
Will I write my own solo show?
Yes. Participants will originate their own ideas and develop their own material. However, all scripts will be guided, shaped, polished, and directed by the co-facilitators.
Who makes the final decisions on the script and production?
While participants will create their own solo-show ideas, the final decisions on scripting, editing, directing, staging, and production will be made by the co-facilitators. This ensures that all pieces meet the artistic, practical, and production standards of the final showcase.
How long will my final performance be?
All solo performances will run up to 10 minutes. Pieces do not need to reach the full duration; the priority is to create a strong, complete, performance-ready solo work.
Can my piece be personal, fictional, comedic, or experimental?
Yes. Your piece may be personal, fictional, character-based, comedic, dramatic, experimental, or inspired by real-life material, provided it can be staged within the workshop’s creative, technical, and production constraints.
Will there be a final performance?
Yes. The workshop culminates in a fully staged live production presented to an audience.
Is everyone guaranteed to perform in the final production?
The final performance is dependent on preparation, commitment, rehearsal discipline, and performance readiness. Final decisions will be made by the co-facilitators.
What is the time commitment?
Participants are committing to the scheduled workshop sessions as well as rehearsal time outside of class. Additional rehearsal time may be required closer to the final production.
What happens if I miss a session?
Missing sessions may affect your ability to keep up with the process. Participants must be available for required final rehearsals, bump-in, dress rehearsal, and performance dates.
Will there be technical or production restrictions?
Yes. A list of writing, technical, and production restrictions will be made available to participants before the workshop begins. These restrictions ensure that each piece can be safely and effectively staged within the available time, venue, and resources.
Will HCAC provide props, costumes, or set pieces?
Participants may use what is available within the studio premises where appropriate. Any specific props, costumes, set pieces, or additional production items required for an individual piece may need to be sourced by the participant.
Will I need to help with the production outside my own performance?
Yes. Although each participant will perform a solo piece, participants may also be required to assist with transitions, backstage duties, front-of-house, or other production needs.
Am I expected to help market the final show?
Yes. While HCAC/Method Productions may assist with marketing collaterals and promotion, participants are expected to help promote the final production and support audience attendance.
What will I leave with?
You will leave with the experience of creating and performing an original solo piece, a stronger understanding of the rehearsal and production process, and practical performance material that may support your portfolio or future creative work.
