Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting Weekend Intensive
- 3 Jul - 5 Jul, 2026
Day 1: Ease in Motion: Posture, Movement & Pain-Free Living
Day 2: Ease in Performance: Managing Stress & Performing with Confidence
Alexander Technique Masterclass is a 2-day intensive designed to help participants move, breathe, work, and perform with greater ease, confidence, and awareness. Drawing on the principles of the Alexander Technique, the workshop explores how unconscious habits of tension, posture, movement, stress, and over-effort shape the way we use ourselves in daily life and high-pressure situations.
Across the two days, participants will learn to recognise patterns that contribute to pain, fatigue, anxiety, and restriction, and practise simple, embodied tools to interrupt these habits. Through guided movement, constructive rest, hands-on work, and practical application, the workshop supports a more coordinated, calm, and responsive relationship between body and mind.
This is not a fitness class, posture lecture, or performance coaching session. It is a practical re-education in how we use ourselves, helping participants reduce unnecessary tension, move with greater freedom, and access a more natural quality of presence in both everyday and high-stakes moments.
This workshop is suitable for:

Q: What should I bring?
Please wear or bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. Bring a water bottle, a small notebook or journal, a yoga mat and an open mind!
Q: What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is an evidence-based method of mind–body re-education
developed in the late 1800s by Frederick Matthias Alexander, an Australian actor addressing his own vocal and breathing issues. It helps you recognize and release unconscious patterns of tension built through daily life and performance. Rather than adding more effort, it teaches you to stop what interferes allowing natural poise, coordination, and ease to emerge. Today, it is taught at leading conservatories, universities, and researched in medical institutions worldwide, including The Juilliard School, the Royal College of Music, Columbia
University, and New York University.
Q: Is there anything to prepare ahead of time?
No preparation is required. Simply arrive well-rested, having eaten a light meal beforehand. You do not need to read anything in advance, practice any exercises, or have any background knowledge. The workshop is entirely self-contained. If you would like to arrive with a sense of curiosity about your own body, noticing how you sit, stand, walk, and breathe in the days before, that gentle awareness is all the preparation you need.
Q: Is there a difference in the two workshop days?
The two workshop days are complementary and mutually reinforcing allowing for a deeper and more integrated understanding of the Technique and its applications.
While both workshops draw on the same foundational principles of the Alexander Technique, they differ in emphasis and application. Day 1 explores how postural habits and movement patterns contribute to physical pain, fatigue, and restriction with practical exploration of daily activities such as sitting, standing, or walking. Day 2 applies those same principles to the inner landscape of performance, addressing the stress response, performance anxiety, presence, and the psychophysical dimension of performing under pressure. Think of Day 1 as the body in daily life, and Day 2 as the body in high-stakes moments.
Q: I am not a musician, actor or performer. Is this relevant to me?
Absolutely. While Aik Hooi has extensive experience working with musicians and performing artists, the Alexander Technique is a universal discipline. If you sit at a desk, use a computer, drive, cook, or simply inhabit a human body in daily life, these workshops are relevant to you. Pain, tension, stress, and the desire to move and live with greater ease are not exclusive to performers — they are part of the human experience.
Q: I have a physical injury or health condition. Can I still attend?
In most cases, yes and in many cases, the Alexander Technique is particularly helpful for people managing chronic pain or recovering from injury. Please inform Aik Hooi of any significant health conditions, injuries, or physical limitations when you register, so she can ensure appropriate modifications and individual guidance throughout the day.
Q: Will there be individual, hands-on guidance?
Yes. Hands-on work is a central and distinctive element of Alexander Technique teaching. Aik Hooi will offer gentle, non-invasive guiding contact, typically to the head, neck, shoulders, and back to help participants directly experience the changes being explored. All hands-on work is fully consensual, and participants are always welcome to opt out.
Q: How many participants will be in each workshop?
Workshop numbers are kept intentionally small to ensure quality of individual attention and a safe, supported learning environment. Details on maximum group size will be provided upon registration.
Q: Will there be any follow-up support after the workshop?
Yes. Participants who wish to continue their Alexander Technique journey are welcome to explore individual lessons with Aik Hooi, both online and in person. Information about ongoing support, including Poise and Harmony & Body in Tune coaching program, will be shared during the workshop.
