Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting (Intermediate)

  • About this Workshop

    What is Lee Strasberg's Method?

An acting technique, Strasberg’s method brings out the inner life of a character. Actors trained in this method use their personal experiences to inhabit characters. They are sensitive to sensory realities. They are truthful. Authentic. Present. And they are more in tune with their physical, mental and emotional instrument.

In this workshop, you will learn to create art that resonates: How do we dissolve unnecessary tension in our body? How do we access our experiences readily? Being watched, how can we perform freely?

During this 8 week programme Kamil will teach Strasberg’s acting fundamentals as a comprehensive and carefully-planned curriculum aimed to develop self-awareness, critical thinking, and confidence in actors and non-actors alike.

Our instructor, Kamil, works with every student individually. This means that you’ll receive personalized feedback and assignments that cater to your learning needs. You’ll learn to perform monologues, project your voice, devise scenes, study voice projection techniques and practice sense memory and relaxation exercises.

HCAC offers comprehensive, carefully structured and rigorous actor training workshops and programmes. We believe in providing the actor with a stable and reliable framework for his work through various methods of acting.

The actor’s instrument is his mind and body. This means that both the physical and mental muscles require consistent conditioning and research to keep the instrument sharp and prepared, ready to go at a moment’s notice.

This is why we review our curriculum meticulously and constantly check in with our students’ progress here. Our immersive training programme contain both depth (i.e. 8 weeks programmes) and breadth (i.e. short intensives) modules.

With training, actors become more acquainted with the strengths and weaknesses of their instrument, and are better able to be in control of it. They become more grounded in truth and are able to ensure greater sensitivity when approaching their work. Their work becomes more visceral, more in tune with the human condition and certainly, in most instances, more relatable.

HCAC also offers one-on-one coaching sessions to help actors prepare for various industry-related scenarios e.g. audition coaching, role coaching etc. Actors will receive personalised feedback on their material. We believe in producing actors and performers whose work is serviceable to the industry.

For the Lee Strasberg (Intro) workshop you’ll be working on building a solid technique that will encompass how you can prepare
for scenes physically, mentally and emotionally/spiritually. The work we will do in this workshop is mostly solo work. You will be able to use what you learn in this workshop to help you prepare for any role be it TV, theatre or Film.
In the Lee Strasberg Improvisation workshop, you’ll be working in pairs to create half an hour improvised/structured scenes based around a specific topic where one of you will be pro that topic and the other will be anti the topic. The whole idea is to teach you to create believable characters who have strong, passionate beliefs from their core. With that training you will learn how to advocate for characters and belief systems that are outside of your habits and comfort zone. This is particularly useful when you are given a script and you need to find a way to invest deeply into the script and character.

He found his passion for drama at the tender age of 7 and has spent his life dedicated to the craft of acting. HCAC has been created to enrich lives and inspire actors and non-actors alike. It is part of Kamil’s great vision to elevate and progress acting as well as other forms of creative expression in Singapore.

As part of the growth of HCAC, in 2014, Kamil started Method Productions, a presenting production company across all mediums.
